Uniform

Orewa College believes the tidy wearing of the school uniform trains students in proper dress habits, and gives them pride in themselves and in their school. It also eliminates any undesirable competition in dress.

  • No garments other than approved uniform items are to be visible. Clothing must be worn appropriately and in a good state of repair
  • Body piercings or markings (ie tattoos, etc) are not permitted. (One plain gold/silver ear stud or small sleeper in each ear may be worn)
  • All boys must be clean shaven
  • Hair should be neat and tidy and of a natural hair colour and style. Face and eyes must be visible. Long hair should be tied back in all practical classes. Hair bands, ties, etc must be in school colours of black, green or white. The Principal reserves the right to define natural hair colour and style
  • Makeup, nail extensions or nail polish are not to be worn
  • A watch, one plain finger ring, one plain gold/silver ear stud or small sleeper in each ear may be worn

Common to Both Boys and Girls

  • Orewa College jacket
  • Regulation green woollen pullover with logo
  • Regulation green polo shirt with logo
  • Regulation grey trousers
  • Black roman sandals without socks OR sturdy, polishable plain black leather lace-up shoes
  • Girls and boys socks must be knee length, and worn as such
  • Plain black scarf
  • Regulation school bucket hat is compulsory for Year 7 and 8 students.  Bucket hats/caps are optional for other years
  • Hair must be of natural colour and style

Boys´ Uniform

  • Grey regulation shorts
  • Regulation knee socks, worn with shoes
  • Senior polo shirt (Year 11 and 12 only)
  • All boys must be clean shaven

Girls´ Uniform

  • Orewa College tartan skirt
  • Black winter weight pantihose or regulation black knee socks
  • Senior white blouse (Year 11 and 12 only)

Sports Uniform

Sports uniforms are required when a school team is involved in inter-school sport and can be purchased from the school during sports enrolments.

Physical Education Uniform

The regular uniform for Physical Education is black shorts and a T-shirt, in House colours.

Year 13 Dress Code

All Year 13 students are to comply with the following dress code:

  • Students' overall appearance should be neat, clean and appropriate for school
  • Students should wear tidy, modest clothes (no low necked tops, very short shorts, bare backs, bare midriffs, narrow shoulder straps)
  • Shirts and T-shirts must be plain (any logo should be discreet) and must be either short or long sleeves
  • All clothing must be in good state of repair
  • Students unable to meet the Year 13 dress code will be required to wear school uniform as in Year 12
  • Any Year 13 students representing the school will wear the official school blazer and tie provided by the school, with their own plain, collared white blouse or shirt, plain black trousers or skirt (skirt must be plain and at least knee length to suit the Blazer) and black shoes

Non-Regulation Uniform

Students who arrive at school in non-regulation uniform or incorrectly dressed should have a note from their parent/caregiver explaining that repairs and or replacements are underway.  The school provides replacement uniform items for the interim.

Any non regulation uniform and/or jewellery will be confiscated and only returned at the end of the term, or to parents directly on request.
